I acquired this rack from Roy Schrader in 2003.

The ASR NFPA rack is similar to the Rescue Systems rack and to the Mio Mechanical RR-2A. It uses six large-diameter solid aluminum bars. The top bar is longer to assist in tying off.

The Rescue Systems rack uses six large-diameter solid aluminum bars. The top bar is longer to assist in tying off. Kyle Isenhart's "Temperature Study of Rappelling Devices" in Nylon Highway #4 indicates that the thermal performance of aluminum and stainless steel bars are similar.
