I acquired this eight from Barrabés.com in Spain in 2003.
The Fixe Supreme is forged from aluminum alloy and then hard anodized. Mine is 124 mm. tall, 77 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 38 mm. high and 54 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 10 mm. The shaft length and width are 37 mm. and 25 mm, respectively. The eye measures 25 mm. by 29 mm. My eight weighs 96 g.
This Fixe Supreme is stamped with a salamander logo on the front, and "22 kN" on the back.
The Fixe Supreme is one of a few eights that have inner projections in the main rope hole, apparently to guide the rope. In the Fixe, the center projection is a small "bump" that does not appear to serve any useful purpose.
The Fixe Supreme works well enough on flexible climbing rope, but may provide too much friction on stiff or muddy ropes. The eye is not designed for belaying.
