I acquired this eight from Speleoshoppe, possibly in the mid to late 1980s.
The Salic is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 158 mm. tall, 82 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 49 mm. high and 55 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 61 mm. and 28 mm, respectively. The eye measures 26 mm by 26 mm. My eight weighs 165 g.
The Salic is marked "SALIC" on one side and "FRANCE" on the other.
The Salic is a large, forged, aluminum figure eight, The shank is longer than it needs to be, needlessly increasing the size and weight of this eight. The Salic is too heavy for my taste.
