I acquired this eight from John E. Weinel, Inc. in 1989.
The Clog Small, Version A is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 144 mm. tall, 75 mm. wide, and 17 mm. thick. The rope hole is 51 mm. high and 51 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 45 mm. and 27 mm, respectively. The eye measures 25 mm by 24 mm. My eight weighs 139 g.
The front of the shaft has "CLOG" in raised letters.
The Clog Small, Version A is a typical example of a full sized, forged, aluminum figure eight. Except for being unfinished, this eight is essentially identical to Version B, the DMM Standard, Version B, and the SMK figure eight.
This eight has plenty of metal, but there are some sudden corners on the shank that tend to make the eight grab on dirty rope. The corners will wear initially faster than the other parts of the eight. The eye is not designed for belaying.

I do not have a record of when or where I acquired this eight. I suspect that it was in the early or mid 1980s.
The Clog Small, Version B is forged from aluminum alloy and then hard anodized. Mine is 144 mm. tall, 75 mm. wide, and 17 mm. thick. The rope hole is 50 mm. high and 50 mm wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 47 mm. and 26 mm, respectively. The eye measures 25 mm. by 25 mm. My eight weighs 138 g.
The front of the shaft has "CLOG" in raised letters, and the rear has "WALES," also in raised letters.
Version B is another typical example of a full sized, forged, aluminum figure eight. The finish is significantly harder than an unfinished eight, so it should last longer when used on relatively clean ropes.
This eight is essentially identical to Version A, the DMM Standard, Version B, and the SMK figure eight.

I acquired this eight from Teton Mountaineering in 1980.
The Clog Large, Version A is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 167 mm. tall, 82 mm. wide, and 15 mm. thick. The rope hole is 55 mm. high and 55 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 14 mm. The shaft length and width are 64 mm. and 27 mm, respectively. The eye measures 22 mm by 22 mm. My eight weighs 180 g.
The front of this eight is stamped with "CLOG" and "WALES."
This Clog is one of the largest forged aluminum figure eights, and it is too large and heavy for my taste. Because of its large size and gentle curves, this eight provides a smooth rappel under most circumstances. One thing I don't like is that the inside of the eye (the lower hole) is rather sharp. Needless to say, it isn't suitable for "Sticht" belaying. The eye is also too narrow to accept two full size locking carabiners.

I acquired this eight used from David Mellor in 2007.
The Clog Large, Version B is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 169 mm. tall, 83 mm. wide, and 14 mm. thick. The rope hole is 55 mm. high and 54 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 15 mm. The shaft length and width are 65 mm. and 28 mm, respectively. The eye measures 21 mm. by 21 mm. My eight weighs 209 g.
The front of this eight is stamped with "CLOG" and "WALES."
Version B is similar to Version A, except that the inside of the eye, although still having an angle, is not as sharp. Version B is noticeably thinner than Version A.

I acquired this eight used from Edwin Crook in 2007.
The Clog Large, Version A is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 169 mm. tall, 83 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 55 mm. high and 55 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 15 mm. The shaft length and width are 65 mm. and 28 mm, respectively. The eye measures 20 mm. by 20 mm. My eight weighs 204 g.
The front of this eight is stamped with "CLOG" and "WALES."
Version C is similar to Version A, except that the inside of the eye no longer has a sharp ende. Instead, it has a rib and several ridges. The ridges look accidental. They appear to be original but I cannot explain them.
Version C is noticeably thicker than Versions A and B.

I acquired this eight used from David Mellor in 2007.
The Clog Large, Version A is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 168 mm. tall, 83 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 54 mm. high and 54 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 16 mm. The shaft length and width are 65 mm. and 27 mm, respectively. The eye measures 21 mm. by 21 mm. My eight weighs 209 g.
The front of this eight is stamped with "CLOG" and "WALES."
Version D has the smoothest eye of my five large Clogs. There is just a minor hint of a ridge left over from the forging.

I acquired this eight from Bob & Bob in 1990.
The Clog Large, Version E is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 165 mm. tall, 80 mm. wide, and 15 mm. thick. The rope hole is 55 mm. high and 55 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 15 mm. The shaft length and width are 63 mm. and 26 mm, respectively. The eye measures 21 mm by 21 mm. My eight weighs 180 g.
The front is stamped with "CLOG," and the rear with "GREAT BRITAIN"
This Clog is also one of the largest forged aluminum figure eights, and it is too large and heavy for my taste. The inside of the eye is rounded, unlike the eye in Version A, but still shouldn't be used for belaying. The eye is still too narrow to accept two full size locking carabiners. Like Version A, it provides a smooth rappel.
