[ Top | Version B | Return to Figure Eights ]
I acquired this eight from BentGear.com in 2007.
The Hugh Banner, Version A is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 146 mm. tall, 76 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 51 mm. high and 51 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 46 mm and 26 mm, respectively. The eye measures 26 mm. by 26 mm. My eight weighs 127 g.
The front of the shaft is stamped with the HB ligature. The top front of the upper loop is stamped "03 03."
The Hugh Banner, Version A is a typical example of a full sized, forged, aluminum figure eight. It is essentially identical to Version B and the Mammut Version A, Lucky Ecos and Trango Versions A and B.

I acquired this eight used from Gareth Parry in 2007.
The Hugh Banner, Version B is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 144 mm. tall, 76 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. Mine is 146 mm. tall, 76 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 51 mm. high and 51 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 46 mm and 26 mm, respectively. The eye measures 26 mm. by 26 mm. My eight weighs 128 g.
The front of the shaft is stamped with the HB ligature. The top front of the upper loop is stamped "006 LF"
Version B has the HB ligature stamped longitudinally instead of laterally. Otherwise, Versions A and B are essentially identical. I really don't think that these deserve to be called separate Versions and I don't normally collect such small differences, but in this case, I wound up with two very similar eights and decided to show them.
