Bachmann's Simple Buttonhole knot is single strand variation of
the Buttonhole. It is also a
self-tightening version of the Helical.
The knot grips well and slides easily. If the user leaves the
figure eight tied between uses, then tying the Buttonhole is simple
- just count to get the cdesired number of wraps. The bulky figure
eight loop interferes with the knot's operation to some extent,
but this isn't critical.
The Buttonhole is a related
knot tied with a sling loop.
